Why did my address in Da Nang change?

Because on 1 July 2025 Vietnam stopped using districts, and Da Nang merged its wards under Resolution 1659/NQ-UBTVQH15. An address now ends with the new ward and Da Nang, with no district: Mỹ An, Khuê Mỹ, Hòa Hải and Hòa Quý, for example, are now all Ngũ Hành Sơn ward.

After the change, Da Nang has 94 units at the lowest level: 23 wards, 70 communes and 1 special zone.

Some of the changes in the city: Phước Mỹ, An Hải Bắc and An Hải Nam became An Hải. Thọ Quang, Nại Hiên Đông and Mân Thái became Sơn Trà. Thanh Bình, Thuận Phước, Thạch Thang, Phước Ninh and Hải Châu became Hải Châu.

Bình Thuận, Hòa Thuận Tây, Hòa Cường Bắc and Hòa Cường Nam became Hòa Cường. Hòa Thọ Tây, Hòa Thọ Đông and Khuê Trung became Cẩm Lệ.

You will still see the old ward names on signs and websites. Check the new name before you write an address on a form.

Another change is planned. On 29 June 2026 the city council voted to back a plan to make 10 communes into wards: Hòa Vang, Hòa Tiến, Bà Nà, Đại Lộc, Điện Bàn Tây, Chiên Đàn, Núi Thành, Tam Anh, Nam Phước and Thăng Bình. On 3 October 2026 a team from the Ministry of Home Affairs visited those areas, and the decision still had to come from the national level. If it is approved, Da Nang will have 33 wards, 60 communes and 1 special zone.
