The old city of Hoi An is now three wards of Da Nang, Hội An, Hội An Đông and Hội An Tây, and Tân Hiệp commune on Cù Lao Chàm island. The old town was in Minh An ward, which is now part of Hội An ward.
The new city has an area of 11,859.59 square kilometres and a population of 3,065,628. Those are the figures given when the merger was passed.
An address in Hoi An now ends with the ward or commune and Da Nang, not Quảng Nam.
