How much cash can I bring into Vietnam?

Any amount, but above a limit you declare it at customs when you arrive and when you leave. The limit is 5,000 US dollars, or the same value in another currency, or 15,000,000 VND in cash.

The cash limits come from State Bank Circular 15/2011. Gold jewellery of 300 g or more is declared as well, under Circular 11/2014.

Not declaring, or declaring a wrong amount, is an offence under Decree 169/2026, with fines that rise with the amount.
