Spanda Yoga
A place to practise, then stay for a good simple meal and coffee.
Opened in 2019, closed in early 2020 for COVID, open again since March 2025. Yoga, aerial yoga, Pilates Mat and sound baths, with a vegetarian cafe and brunch at 15 An Cu 6, Monday to Saturday from 8am.
The Spanda story
Spanda Yoga is a yoga studio and a vegetarian cafe at 15 An Cu 6, in An Hai. It grew out of the owner's life as a yoga teacher. In her words: "I've always wanted to create a place to practise, then stay for a good simple meal, coffee and a little connection."
They first opened in 2019 and had to close in early 2020 because of COVID. They reopened in March 2025. The name Spanda comes from Sanskrit and can be translated as vibration or pulsation. For her it also brings to mind the relationship between opposites, light and dark, opening and closing. "Each gives meaning to the other. Having opened, closed and begun again, that feels especially close to our story."
The cafe started with a few vegetarian dishes and coffee for people coming before or after yoga. Gradually, guests began coming just for the food and coffee too, and the menu grew with them. It is open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm, with last orders at 4:15pm.
There is a little of the family throughout the space. Most of the paintings and drawings are by the owner and her older daughters, the neighbours painted the main wooden doors, and her husband made all the wooden tables and chairs.
Today they offer yoga, aerial yoga, Pilates Mat, sound baths and workshops, with the cafe and brunch. The weekly schedule has Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Power Vinyasa, Pilates Mat, Aerial Yoga and Yin & Sound Bath. The Day Pass brings the two halves together: a class, a meal and a drink. Teacher training is coming soon.
