Hoi An Lantern Festival, full moon night

On the 14th night of every lunar month, the centre of the old town turns off its electric lights and the streets are lit by lanterns. There is hát bội theatre, calligraphy, Chinese chess and the bài chòi folk game, and people float flower lanterns on the Hoai River for peace and luck. Hoi An has held this night every month since 1998. This one is the 14th day of the ninth lunar month.
