How do I visit the Hai Van Pass and Hai Van Quan?

Hải Vân Quan is the old stone gate on top of the Hải Vân Pass, on the line between Huế and Da Nang. Since 2 June 2026 it has a ticket: 70,000 VND a person, open from 7am to 5:30pm every day.

The gate stands nearly 500 m above the sea. Emperor Minh Mạng had it built in 1826. Both cities restored it between 2021 and the end of 2024, for more than 42 billion VND.

The price is the same for Vietnamese and foreign visitors and is set until the end of 2028. Children under 1.2 m enter free, and people who live in Huế or Da Nang pay half.
