About The Gypsy Rooftop Restaurant & Bar

The Gypsy is a rooftop restaurant and bar on the 10th floor of the New Orient Hotel, at 20 Dong Da in Hai Chau. Three partners opened it: two French friends, one of them the chef, and a partner whose family owns the hotel.

The roof was once a bar and an old karaoke place. During COVID, the two friends came up here and agreed on a plan. In their own words, they wanted to bring the first luxury rooftop restaurant to town.

They called it The Gypsy because they did not want to keep to one kind of food. Like a gypsy, the menu travels around the Mediterranean Sea and makes its famous dishes again, in a new way. It changes every three months, with the season.

A Menu That Travels

Famous Mediterranean dishes, made again in their own way.

The pan-seared foie gras comes almost melting, with mango chutney, fermented pineapple and chili jam on toasted brioche.

Indoors Or By The Pool

The roof has a dining room inside, tables by the pool and the Upper Sky Garden terrace.

For a party, the patio holds 80 guests and the pool side 150. A wedding for 300 fits on the terrace.

At The Market Every Day

The chef goes to the local markets every day and spends time with fishermen.

The blue crab is local, with green apple, cucumber, radish and a mayo of lá é, a Vietnamese herb.
