Mandir Danang
A vegan yoga studio. Mandir means temple.
Hatha, Jivamukti, Ashtanga-Vinyasa, Yin and Mantra Yoga, on the second floor of 61 Tieu La.
About Mandir
Mandir means temple in Sanskrit. Mandir Danang is a yoga studio on the second floor of 61 Tieu La, and the people who run it call it a yoga shala: a room to practise in, and a place to pray.
It is a vegan studio. They practise ahimsa, which means non-harming, and at Mandir that covers animals as well as people. Each class is offered as a prayer for the happiness and freedom of all beings.
The teaching comes from old yoga traditions, not from trends: Hatha, Jivamukti, Ashtanga-Vinyasa, Yin and Mantra Yoga. "We do not invent Yoga, we are passing down the traditions," they say. Their teachers keep studying after the first 200 hours of teacher training.
Mandir is run by a couple, Ha and YogaGiri. Ha lived in France for 13 years. Right after she moved back home, she met YogaGiri at a kirtan, where people sing mantras together. Two years ago they travelled to Da Nang together, and it felt like home. They told each other they would move here in two years, and now they are here.
