in Da Nang.

The Enjoy Da Nang Festival runs until Sunday July 26. Most of it sits at East Sea Park, which is on Vo Nguyen Giap in An Hai, at the end of Pham Van Dong. The Quang food space inside the park is open every evening from 5pm to 10:30pm until Sunday.

Two more things happen on the sand behind the park. The lit kite night runs from 6pm to 10pm and keeps going until Sunday, with about 500 kites that glow in the dark, and it costs nothing to walk along and look. The sea light party is on the same north beach from 6pm to 10pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with grilled food and music, and that one needs a ticket, 129,000 to 199,000 dong.

Friday night has a stage show. Da Nang Fashion Week Season 2 starts at East Sea Park at 7:30pm, outdoors next to My Khe beach. If you ride there, leave home a little early so you have time to park.

The hot spell is ending. The ten day forecast for Da Nang from the government weather service for central Vietnam, issued on July 21, says temperatures fall from July 23 and the heat wave finishes. For Friday, Saturday and Sunday the middle of the city sits near 26 degrees at night and 34 degrees in the day. The beach side and Son Tra are a little lower, about 25 to 33.

Rain comes back with the cooler air. The chance of rain runs from about 25 to 60 percent depending on the day and the part of the city, mostly late in the afternoon and at night, and in some places it will be moderate to heavy. The same forecast warns about lightning and sudden strong wind inside a rain cloud. If you are on the sand at the kite night and the sky turns dark, walk back to a building.

No storm is coming to Da Nang. There is a low pressure area east of the Philippines. Forecasters say it may grow into a typhoon around July 24 or 25, then move into the north east corner of the East Sea around July 25 or 26. The heavy rain risk from that system is in the north of Vietnam, not here, and Da Nang has no storm warning at all. Even so, a forecast is only a forecast. Weather here changes fast in storm season, June to November, so check it again on the morning you go out.

Friday: Da Nang Fashion Week Season 2 at East Sea Park, 7:30pm, outdoors next to the beach. The HAT Jazz Band plays The Craftsman from 9:15pm.

Saturday: the SUP paddle race is on the water in front of Man Thai beach during the day. In the evening there is a quiet one, a meditation session at Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra at 7pm. Later, Saga at 4 An Thuong 4 brings in Oscar L, a techno DJ from Spain, doors open at 10pm, 550,000 dong at the door with one drink included.

Sunday: the barefoot beach run starts at 4:30am and finishes by 8am, 4km along the sand and back. Everyone meets at Ariyana Beach Garden, 107 Vo Nguyen Giap. It is free and there is no age limit. At 5am there is a sunrise session at East Sea Park with light exercise.

All weekend: the Dragon Bridge shoots fire and then sprays water at 9pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It is free to watch from the riverbank and it lasts about 15 minutes.

Here is something to know before you go into the sea after dinner. From July 10 the city pays the people who work on the beaches at night. Rescue staff, security staff and cleaners get 100,000 dong for each night shift, and that shift runs from 7pm to 10pm. It comes from a city council decision passed on June 29.

The useful part is the time. There is paid duty on the beach in the evening, and it stops at 10pm. So if you want a night swim, go into the water before 10pm, stay near the lights and other people, and do not swim alone.

The festival runs on the beach until 10pm every night this week, so plenty of people will be near the water after dark. Watch small children closely.

The city finished a piece of paperwork this week that helps decide whether factories come here. On July 22 the chairman of the city signed Decision 3157. It sets out 34 updated steps for import and export inside the Da Nang free trade zone, and it gives the Hi-Tech Park management board the job of issuing certificates of origin for goods. In plain words, a company can now finish the whole set of steps in one office instead of several.

The zone itself is about 1,881 hectares, split into seven separate sites, and it is tied to the new Lien Chieu port. The Prime Minister set it up with Decision 1142 on June 13, 2025. The plan is factories, warehouses and shipping work, plus digital and technology companies.

For a person living here, nothing changes this month. Paperwork is the slow part that decides whether the companies actually come. If they do, the jobs and the trucks will be on the north west side of the city near the port, not on the beach side, and the demand for rooms, food and small shops will follow them there.

Keep the first weekend of August free if you like a good market. The Ngoc Linh Ginseng and International Herbal Festival runs from Saturday August 1 to Monday August 3 at APEC Park in Hai Chau.

Ngoc Linh ginseng grows in the mountains at Nam Tra My, which became part of Da Nang when the two provinces joined in 2025. The festival has a display space for ginseng and herbs, a ginseng contest, an auction, a food area with mountain dishes, tours up to the growing areas and a science meeting. The opening show is on the evening of August 1. Money from the auction goes to protecting the growing areas.

One more reason to go. The organisers say every ginseng root sold at the festival is checked and real. If you have ever wanted to see the plant in person before you buy any, this is the weekend for it.
