What can I do on the Son Tra peninsula?

Walk or ride along its visiting routes and look at the view. On 17 August 2026 the Tiên Sa to Suối Ôm to Bàn Cờ peak route was closed to repair storm damage. Each route allows different vehicles. The routes are open from 7:30am to 5:30pm from October to February, and to 6:30pm from March to September.

The routes opened again on 16 September 2025, after landslides in the heavy rain of October 2022 closed them. They close when there is a bad weather warning.

Tiên Sa to Suối Ôm to Bàn Cờ peak: on foot, by sports or mountain bike, or by motorbike, but not by scooter. This route was closed for storm repairs on 17 August 2026, and we found no report that it has opened again. Bàn Cờ peak to Bãi Bắc: one way, downhill only, and not for scooters, sports or mountain bikes, or coaches with more than 24 seats. Bãi Bắc to the heritage banyan tree: on foot only.

If you come on your own, the board gives you a green card, and you hand it back the same day.

Do not join trekking, eco or wildlife tours that have no licence. On 10 September 2026 the board said no ecotourism plan for the protected forest has been approved, so these tours break the law. The trails down to Hục Lỡ, Mũi Nghê and Bãi Đá Đen are banned.

The peninsula is also where the Lady Buddha stands at Linh Ứng pagoda, and where the red-shanked douc langur lives.
