The Room
Bien means sea, and the room says it before you sit down. A painted sunset over the ocean hangs on the wall, ivy falls from the ceiling, bamboo lamps glow over a long wooden counter, and a wide window opens onto the street. The cheesecakes are the reason people come back. There is a matcha basque, a classic burnt basque, and a blueberry one on a dark biscuit base. But this is not only a cake shop. The kitchen also sends out a proper lunch: banh mi packed with minced pork and egg, a shrimp omelette bright with chilli and coriander, rice plates with a fried egg on top. Open from 10am to 5pm, closed on Tuesday, so it is a daytime place, made for a slow afternoon.

The Cheesecakes
Matcha basque, classic burnt basque, and blueberry on a dark biscuit base. Baked in house and cut thick.

Banh mi with minced pork and egg, shrimp omelette with chilli and coriander, and rice plates. Proper food, not just something to go with coffee.
