The Place

Onda was built by Chef K-Jun, a Korean chef with more than twenty years behind him and a cooking life that has run through fifty one countries. He has worked in Michelin starred kitchens in New York and in five star hotels, and he has also spent a lot of time in local markets, family kitchens and at street food carts, which is the part you can taste. Onda is what happens when someone stops choosing. Jamaican jerk chicken, Mexican tacos, smash burgers made by hand, artisan bagels, pastries and cakes, coffee, cocktails, wine and beer, all in one white courtyard on An Thuong 30 with palm trees growing up through it and a pink neon ring over the door. Each kitchen keeps its own character rather than being smoothed into a single house style, which is the whole idea. It opens at eight in the morning and runs to midnight, so it is a breakfast place, a dinner place and a late drink, depending on when you turn up.
